This season marks Bridgestone’s eleventh year of participation in MotoGP competition, and its fourth as the Official Tyre Supplier to MotoGP.
This season is a landmark occasion for MotoGP, with the introduction of Claiming Rule Team (CRT) entries - racing bikes that use production-based engines - and the return of 1000cc machinery to the class, and for 2012, Bridgestone has developed new specification tyres that will allow all the various machines lining up on the grid to reach their full performance potential.
The 2012 specification tyres have been specifically developed to deliver improved warm-up performance, enhanced feel for the rider, and a wider operating temperature range, affording riders extreme confidence and predictable grip characteristics from their first lap.
The latest evolution of MotoGP tyre continues Bridgestone’s racing ethos of achieving maximum performance and durability over a wide range of operating conditions. This approach has not only resulted in resounding success in MotoGP, it has also brought enormous benefits to Bridgestone’s range of road tyres, with the BATTLAX S20 Hyper Sport being the latest benefactor of this race-derived tyre technology.
As twenty-one riders from fourteen teams prepare to take part in this year’s MotoGP championship, Bridgestone embarks on a new three year agreement as Official Tyre Supplier to MotoGP, ensuring that cutting-edge technology developed with the help of the world’s best riders will continue to benefit Bridgestone motorcycle road tyres for many years to come.
