1950s: Bridgestone becomes Japan's largest tyre maker
| After a quarter of century, the beginning of the 50s marked rapid growth for the organisation. Its first course of business was to switch its name back to Bridgestone, followed by the construction of its new headquarters in central Tokyo and finally, the opening its first affiliated tyre distributor. All proved to be sound business decisions as sales topped 10 billion-Yen in 1953 making Bridgestone Japan's largest tyre manufacturer. Ishibashi never forgot his roots and celebrated the company's 25th anniversary by building the Ishibashi Cultural Center in Kurume, which he donated to the city. | ||||||
