Bridgestone & Silje Otte

This year, for the first time I competed in the Bridgestone sponsored BSMA National series and loved it! Going in with an open mind, not knowing what the standard of riding would be like, I really enjoyed it. In nearly every race, there were approximately 5 other riders within 2 seconds of my lap times, and this made for really competitive racing! I finished the championship in 5th place, which I was really pleased with and am already looking forward to next year. It was at the second round at Brookethorpe, where we bought our first Bridgestone front tyre, we got it put on in between the first and second race in order for me to really feel the difference, which I did, especially on the slippery, off cambered corners on the track, much more traction on the track, which gave me confidence to increase my corner speed, aiding progress. The following round, at Bromyard, we completed the set with a new rear tyre.

I also competed in the BSMA Finals at Wroxton, this was a good weekend, where I got 5th overall. I loved the track, nice and technical with some tight corners, yet flowing with hills and great burms.

UK Girls Nationals was massive date in the calendar for me, had been looking forward to this for months before and the build-up was massive, pressure building up and up! Bridgestone sponsored me a brand new set of tyres for this event, which I am very grateful for! And I definitely felt the benefits of a fresh set of rubber, getting 2 holeshots over the weekend and out dragging 250’s on my 125! Had a brilliant weekend with a 3rd place in the first race and then 4 race wins, meaning that I took the overall and gained the title of UK Girls National Champion, which felt amazing and I was so happy with.

Throughout the year I have also been riding with the W.E.M club, doing all of their club championship rounds, though I am uncertain of my standings, it’s been a fun series to do.

Mark Fereday from Bridgestone invited me and the other team riders, Rob, Jack, James and Morgan, to attend Bridgestone world, held at Mira in Nuneaton. Our job was to show customers what motocross is all about. It was a great three days, we really got a chance to get to know everyone on the team and also the Bridgestone staff that we’ve only ever spoken to over the phone. Getting to ride all day long, drive 4x4’s around a crazy off-road track and have passenger rides in super cars, it was a great experience!
