  • How can I easily see what the Load Capacity of a Bridgestone tyre is?

    The load capacity is specified by stars (*) for radial tyres and ply ratings for bias tyres. As the load capacity is higher, more stars are displayed (from * up to ***) or the number of ply ratings is higher. 

    The MS marking (an exclusively Bridgestone capacity) stands for Multi-Star and means this tyre is apt for both Loader and Earthmover use and the rating will depend on which application the tyre is used for.

  • What does Tyre Tread Classification mean?

    OTR tyres are all classified by dimension, load, pressure and speed. The classifications are standard and have been determined between all parties involved (tyre manufacturers, vehicle manufacturers, etc…). All OTR tyres are registered according to the norms of the TRA (Tyre and Rim Association).


    Coding
    A letter defines the type of use the tyre is meant for:
    L = Loader
    E = Earthmover
    G = Grader


    Classification
    A number defines the depth of the tread of the tyres:
    2 or 3 = Regular tread (100%)
    4 = Deep tread (150%)
    5 = Extra-deep tread (250%)

  • Can tyres still be repaired when damaged?

    It is up to the tyre dealer to assess whether reparation of the tyre is worth it or not. He will be weighing the cost of repair against the remaining life potential of the tyre to assure:
    • Optimal use of the potential of the tread
    • Best cost of service by hour or kilometre of a tyre 
  • How can I inflate my tyres?

    The mounting of OTR tyres is a complex operation and has to be done according to strict procedures. It should be done by an experienced and equipped professional.

  • Why is tyre pressure so important for my tyre?

    Inside the tyre it is the air that sustains the load, not the casing.
    The tyre needs to operate with optimal deflection for the carried load, so the tyre pressure needs to correspond to this load
    Too low pressure leads to excessive deflection of the tyre and this causes mechanical tension which created heat.
    Too high pressure reduced the natural deflection of the tyre which can cause damage or even explosion of the tyre.

    Tyres pressure is determined based on:
    • The instructions of the vehicle constructor
    • The technical features of the tyre
    • The kind of work the vehicle will need to perform
    • The surface the vehicle will work on
