Aspect ratio describes the height of the sidewall as a percentage of the width of the tyre. Touring tyres usually have a higher aspect ratio, indicating a higher sidewall and resulting in a smoother ride. High performance tyres usually have a lower aspect ratio, resulting in better lateral stability.
